YOD Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Susumu Koshimizu, "From Surface to Surface".

Koshimizu is one of the members of "Mono-ha" which is an art movement in Japan from the late sixties to early seventies. Koshimizu has been challenged to break down the stereotype by focusing on the meaning of the thing and rebuilding rather than creating to see the relationship between the thing and the space that is interdependent.

Art Basel Hong Kong was held this March and YOD Gallery presented Koshimizu's solo exhibition there. This exhibition will feature works from the "From Surface to Surface" series that were exhibited there.

"From Surface to Surface", the artist's benchmark work since its inception in 1971, has been reproduced for the first time in almost half a century. It is because there may be a necessity for those of us living today, including the artist himself, to reconfirm the meaning of this work.

The exhibition will feature an exhibition space with a composition reminiscent of the installation of that time.
