Motonori Uwasu
Motonori Uwasu’s early acrylic works are hyperrealistic landscapes in oppressive grey and sepia tones. The subjects are buildings and urban environments, and these monumental paintings let the viewer contemplate the grandness of society’s achievements while asking if they are truly suitable environments for us to dwell.
Uwasu's recent work has shifted in a more whimsical direction, with brighter colours and a naive touch. He paints composite images of places and things he has experienced, or seen in a photo, or perhaps dreamed about. He is striving to a new unique expression, and the gentle atmosphere of his latest work is gaining popularity.
